In a writing class last summer, I met a gifted therapist, Judith Hancox, who is able to heal people suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) with very brief periods of therapy, usually under a year. Judith calls her special, spiritual method “Shiome Therapy,” (www.shiome.com).
Judith is a licensed clinical social worker, who has also studied a number of spiritual healing techniques, such as yoga, gestalt therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), EvTFT (evolving thought field therapy), and energy medicine, including Native American medicine. She uses all her training to diagnose and treat PTSD physically, emotionally, and spiritually. During the first hour of each 90-minute session with a client, Judith applies the techniques she has learned from her training. Then, in the last half-hour of each session, she performs what she calls the “shamanic” part of her special Shiome Therapy.
Inspiration for this method came to Judith on a trip to Hawaii, through a profound underwater encounter with a pod of dolphins. It is definitely worth a trip to her website to read about her experience.
